cellulite

What is cellulite?
Cellulite is the abnormal storage of fat in the adipocytes (fat cells) in the hypodermis. The fat cells are grouped together into large collections, which are separated by fibrous strands. These fibrous strands run between the muscle and the skin. As the fat cells expand with weight gain, the gap between muscle and skin expands but unfortunately the fibrous strands cannot stretch. This results in the dimpling characteristic of cellulite.

Who is affected by Cellulite?
Cellulite is mostly a problem in the buttock and thigh area but can affect all areas in some women and men, irrespective young or old, underweight or overweight. Up until now there has not been any effective way to improve cellulite other than losing weight (and this does not always help). Treatments like body wraps, ultrasound and massage can give temporary relief but do not alter the basic structural problem that causes cellulite.

At Renu Skin Center, we offer a viable alternative to women and men who want to sculpt their body cosmetically, but don't want to undergo surgery. Whether it is losing that belly "pooch", the love handles, the sagging skin under the arms, reducing the thighs and/or buttocks or tightening under the chin, our trained medical professionals develop individualized treatment plans to help each person achieve their goals.

Two new treatments are available for cellulite.  Lipo Dissolve is an injection treatment, where as Lumicell is a non-invasive treatment.

Lymphatic Drainage Massage + Infrared Laser Light

In addition, there is a revolutionary new treatment for cellulite using state of the art technology to reduce cellulite. Mechanical and Infrared energy causes painless stretching of the fibrous bands to reduce the dimpling of cellulite, fat cells are broken down and absorbed, metabolism of the area is increased and the end result is a smoother, more regular appearance and general reduction in hip, thigh and stomach size. Typically clients are able to see a noticeable cellulite reduction after a series of 10 treatments. The cellulite treatments feel like a warm massage and most patients enjoy the treatment.

Lipo Dissolve

Lipo Dissolve is phosphatidylcholine deoxycholate, or PCDC, which is administered through a series of micro-injections to permanently dissolve the fat. Lipo dissolve is a non-invasive procedure. Unlike plastic surgery, there is no anesthesia, no surgery, and no downtime. The treatments take less than an hour, that's why people call it "lunchtime lipo."  Results vary with each person's body type and physiology.

The areas we treat include the back of the arms, the upper and lower abdomen, the chin and jowls, knees, upper and lower back, inner and outer thighs, buttocks, and love handles. Each person's anatomy and physiology is different. Most people fall into a four to nine treatment range.

After the treatment there may be some localized discomfort upon injection, and a minor burning sensation immediately following the treatment. Swelling will occur in the treated area, and soreness and inflammation may be experienced for several days after treatment. In some cases, possible localized bruising may occur.

Renu Skin Center maintains the highest standards and treatment protocols to ensure the safety of our patients. PCDC micro-injections are always administered by trained and certified medical staff.  PCDC has been used in various medical applications since the 1950s and has been utilized for cosmetic purposes since the mid 90s. No significant adverse affects attributable to the PCDC injections have been identified.  PCDC is not FDA approved. It is a combination of natural ingredients prepared for each patient by a state licensed compounding pharmacy. The ingredients have been used for a variety of medical purposes in the US and have been used for decades in countries around the world. Patients and physicians continue to be pleased with the results when PCDC is properly used.

There's little or no downtime! That's the beauty of the lipo dissolve procedure, especially when you compare it to more invasive procedures such as liposuction and abdominoplasty. Normally, patients can resume their normal schedule immediately after injections. Some people experience tenderness which may require them to rest up a bit right after their treatment, but most of our patients pursue their normal activities. The minimal disruption is the reason most patients find this lipotherapy so attractive.
